Will my insurance cover my sessions?
Prior to or upon booking, I recommend reviewing your insurance plan to gain insight on if you will need to pay a copay or meet a deductible. While some insurances may fully cover the cost of therapy, others may not. If you have questions, feel free to ask.

What happens in the first session?
First things first, don't be nervous. The first session is where we will dive into your presenting concern(s) and begin to establish a rapport with one another. We will review results of initial assessments and cover some of your history. Think of it as getting to know you and your concerns.

What if my partner/family member is not ready for therapy?
Every journey is different. For couples and family sessions, all individuals must consent to receiving services on their own prior to a session. Minors must receive the consent of a guardian.

I don't feel depressed, do I still need therapy?
Attending therapy is a choice. Therapy doesn’t just focus on depression, you can utilize therapy to navigate concerns like anxiety, current or past trauma, relationship issues and more. Therapy can also help you manage your relationship with a spouse or family member. You can even use it to help navigate the stress of work or everyday life.

What is the difference between therapy and just talking to someone?
Working with a therapist has its benefits because you are able to talk to and work with a licensed professional on what’s concerning you. Therapists are required to have Masters level training and beyond which is grounded in sound research, interventions, and techniques. Your therapist is also typically able to diagnose identified mental health concerns and work with other providers such as your physician, a psychologist, or even a school counselor toward a comprehensive treatment plan with your consent if it is necessary.
